"Break out the winter clothes
and find a love to call your own"
~"St. Patrick's Day" by John MayerYep, a cold front has finally decided to blasts its way down to Miami, FL so its a GLORIOUS 75 degrees Fahrenheit with balmy breezes, clear cerulean blue sunny skies...and a fucking school design lab that DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO TURN THE GOD FORSAKEN A/C OFF!!
My God, it's one thing if its nippy at BEST outside, I can do nippy. Hell, I could do a blizzard if need be, but only if I can find a refuse of some sort, like a large building...that houses around 2000 students, staff & faculty every single day...with a central air system that also has a heater option, which, unfortunately, THEY. DO. NOT. TURN. ON!!!
Mind you, being in the Electrical Engineering building, its understandable why the A/C has to constantly run 24/7/365. There are over 500 computers (Mac & PC) within the confines of this building and there are two server rooms per floor. Now, all of these comps & servers running all at once, within said confined space surrounded in solid concrete generate a massive amount of heat, which gets absorbed by all of the concrete which then can cause overheating, shut downs, crashes, meltdowns and all sorts of electrical mayhem that occurs due to lack of proper ventilation. Kinda like when idiot gamers leave their systems on a closed off shelf underneath the TV and wonder WHY the fan goes out after 100+ hours of a Halo 3 frag fest.

So, in order to maintain all of this electrical equipment built around 1960s architecture, they set up the second most powerful central air system in the entire school. (The utmost powerful being the one set up for The School of Funeral Services...no seriously, the only things you can access from ground level are the main office for the department, entrance to the A/C maintenance room and the elevator to go approx. 12 feet under to the morgue where the advanced classes are held

)
Now, I understand that the equipment needs to be maintained otherwise the whole building goes down (electrically speaking) and that there are a LOT of students working all at once, so the building has to constantly kept at hospital room temperature (approx. 68-60 degrees Fahrenheit) and I even understand that we do live in the Sunshine State, where the sun and humidity can kick your ass and fry it in the process, so the A/C is not only appreciated but welcomed during those hellish days, but what I can't wrap my brain around is why we cannot have access to the thermostat when it actually gets cold?! My God, I'm only able to type right now because my lappy tends to get hot when connected to the outlet! (causing me to stop and set my hands under the heat sink for a few seconds) I really wanna meet the genius who designed and installed the central air system in this building and I want to first thank him and shake his hand for thinking of a system to maintain so many damn computers (srsly, that's tough!)Then, I'm going to proceed to beat him with a cement block, chiseled out of the very building that he lead the construction on, for not ONCE considering "Maybe the classrooms should be able to change the temperature pending the climate outside"!

So, although I ADORE Winter, I can't STAND Winter in Florida because of places like this, which is why my mood is as it is. I
should be paying attention to my prof's lecture, but it is
SO. DAMN. COLD! in here that my body is beginning to shut down and go into Hibernate mode. The second I get home I'm putting on the thickest set of sweat pants I can find, wrapping myself in a cocoon blanket and enjoy this Winter cold as it should be enjoyed: From the comfort of a warm & cozy bed!

So 'till next time.
I'm still here. I'm still breathing. And I'm still drawing!
